This is the second single from the album "Preaching Lies To The Righteous". I must admit, when I first saw that this track would be a single, I was somewhat skeptical. This track was the lead-off track for the album, and in my mind, had been considered more of a intro than a stand-alone song. However, now that I've heard the single, I find I can't argue at all with the choice.
I really enjoyed the first mix of the title track. It really fleshes out the track, added in some more guitar work and fattening up the bassline. It's an impressive re-tooling of the track, and might even be better than the original mix. The first b-side, "Soul", is a mostly instrumental track, with just a minimal amount of vocals. However, it's a enjoyable track, with a funky bassline and organ-esque synths leading the way through the track.
The B! Machine mix and Contact List mixes are both enjoyable, but the next two remixes, of "SKY:Inverted" and "Lust Is A Very Dangerous Thing" are the real remix highlights of the disc.
The first mix has Blue October exploring the EBM side of synth, with a driving beat and aggressive sounds/synths. It's a really cool variation on the Blue October sound. Next up is the Gyroscopic Rules mix of "Lust Is A Very Dangerous Thing", which is a very ambient, laid back & groovy mix of the track. Both of these mixes are really wonderful explorations of moods and sounds, which both still stay in the framework of the band's usual sound. Excellent! This is a great single.. Well worth picking up for $6 from ADD. Highly Recommended!
