System100

So as February draws to a close we are starting the next phase of the album production. Recording of the albums vocals started last week, at the moment we are just laying down some vocal guides as some of the songs have changed dramatically from the original demo's.

We are planning to get the vocals all finished within the next few weeks.

Back soon with more news......

Glen

21 -Jan-2007 Who are you??

System100

Here is the latest exciting installment of the albums progress.

The last 2 songs from the original batch of demos was worked on over the weekend, these being Who and Everyone is Someone. Both of these songs have taken very different courses from the demo's.

As well as the main recording area a smaller editing / programming area has been set up in the studio, this will help us to work on other tracks. This will speed up the production process as we move onto the vocal and guitar recording sections of the album.

So far we have about 15 songs which will be short listed for the album.

stay tuned for more info soon.....

14 -Jan-2007 New Year, New Song

System100

Wow 2007 has come round very fast, and we are in for a busy year what with the new album coming out but also the re-release of Incoming.

So today was a chance for me and Chris to get in the studio to work on the albums instrumental tracks while Steve was out on the Piste...

So today we were working on the instrumental Wobble, I think this name is going to change before the album is finished. This track started out as something we made up during rehearsals.

We have moved it on a lot today from the original idea, bringing in a lot of external analog keyboards to fatten up the track and give it a unique and edgy sound.

More soon.....

Glen

30 -Dec 2006 Modular Madness.

System100

While still nursing post Christmas hangovers, Me and Steve were busy programming a sound on the System 100 for a new song. My first attempt was right but a few cable changes and slider movements resulted in a bizarre sound that was not exactly right, Steve stepped up and created a great sound, which was right.

I still think we are going to need some more cables

Till next year.....

Glen

18 -Dec 2006 Making the arrangement....

Logic Vs Cubase

All the songs are starting to sound really good with our producer Steve Travell working on the arrangements of the songs, with new and longer verses, choruses etc etc.

While this is going on my tea making skills have improved which is also a good thing.

Milk and sugar??

Glen

15 -Dec 2006 All is said and done........

Logic Vs Cubase

Today we worked on the track All is said and Done. The song has gone through a major rework with Steve extending the verses and adding some excellent strings and a killer bass line.

We are hoping to have some of the new versions of these songs ready for our shows in March 2007.

Glen

10 -Dec 2006 Programming, Programming, Programming....

Logic Vs Cubase

As the winter evenings draw in, we have been busy in the studio Yet more images from tonight's work in the studio.

Nearly all the songs have gone through the process of being stripped back to basics and rebuilt, some songs have changed dramatically from the original demos. They are all sounding amazing.

Until next time....

Glen

01 -Dec 2006 Play something funky....

Logic Vs Cubase

Yet more images from tonight's work in the studio.

As you can see from the photo's we let Nic rock out with his guitar tonight, and what fun he had.

We worked on guitar ideas for 3 tracks. Taking on this Love, Spinning on the Fullstop and Who? at the moment we are still laying down ideas for the guitars but we are getting a good feel on the direction of a couple of the songs.

We have recorded some video clips and will be posting them online soon.

Until next time....

Glen

29 -Nov 2006 It's Funny How.....

Logic Vs Cubase

More images from today's work in the studio.

Today we started the second stage of the production.

Now all the songs are in Logic, we are working on the main programming of all the songs, this is where we see what parts from the original demos stay and which ones go.

Today's song was People are Strange. Quite a bit of the original percussion has been removed and the bassline reworked to fit the song better. This has created extra space within the track.

Steve added some new Melltron parts to the Mid8 and Ending, which has helped one of the best endings to our songs.

That's all for now, check back soon for new updates...

Glen

26 -Nov 2006 Logic Vs Cubase

Logic Vs Cubase

More images from this weekend work in the studio.

Things did not go well from the start, a series of knocks to the head put me in a bad move which lasted until lunch time, luckily the all day breakfast from the local cafe helped ease the pain. Meanwhile back at the studio we were transferring all the Cubase files over to Logic 7

This was a long job as there is not an easy way to transfer the songs between the 2 platforms.

All the songs are now in the G5 and we will start further production over the next few weeks.

We are pleased with the sound of the tracks at this early stage and feel they will get better as the production evolves.

That's all for now, check back soon for new updates...

Glen

20 -Nov 2006 Onwards and upwards.......

Accesension

Images taken during the session at the weekend when as we were working on Ascension. Chris was working hard on a sound on the bassstation which involved a lot of lying on the floor as it is in the bottom of the rack. We think he was having a sneaky sleep...

The track sounds good even at this early stage, most of the programming from the original demo is good enough for the track so we will be adding to that new parts and guitar..

08 -Nov 2006 Spinning.......

Hello again,

Today we started playing around with some ideas for Spinning on the Full Stop. This song has a few different names giving to it from Alice and Andrew something to do with seats and buses.....

We have played this one a few times in the last year and is already a crowd favourite.

We have stripped the track back to basics and are working from the drums up. We are using the BFD Vst drum plugin as a source for the drums on the track. Anyone know what BFD stands for? Answers on a postcard......

Spinning

Its sounding very big and quite different to the live version we have played.

Until the next time...

Glen
